This week, while going through my smarthome box, I came across my old SelectPlus doorbell chime. I last used it back in my Domoticz days. I was curious whether I could get it working again in Home Assistant. Just for fun — and it actually worked! Maybe you still have one lying around as well. At the time, it was available for six euros at Action.
SelectPlus Doorbell with RFXcom
The doorbell works via RF 433Mhz, so you’ll need an RFXcom to do anything with the device. In Domoticz, you could automatically pair the doorbell by pressing the button. In my article about adding the SelectPlus doorbell to Domoticz, you can read more about how that worked back then. In Home Assistant, it’s still not that easy — especially if you no longer have the push button, like me. You need an event code that Home Assistant can translate into a device.
SelectPlus Event Code
So somehow I had to find an event code for the doorbell. Fortunately, someone on the Home Assistant Community had the same question as I did: how can I add the SelectPlus doorbell to Home Assistant? In the post, he also shared event codes that he captured using his doorbell button.
I entered the codes from his post into the RFXcom integration and eventually got lucky: one of the codes was recognized as SelectPlus. The event code that works for me is: 07160202006f9970.
Send Doorbell Command with RFXcom
The new device was added to the list and I was now able to control it. Hopefully, I clicked on the siren — but I didn’t hear any ding-dong coming from the doorbell.

When you press and hold the entity name, a new window appears. Here you’ll find the advanced controls option. There I could choose between several sounds.

I selected Sound 1 and clicked the play button. The doorbell actually played the configured melody.
